IPvFoo: A Tool for IPv4 and IPv6 Awareness
IPvFoo is a Firefox extension designed to enhance awareness of the transition from IPv4 to IPv6. This tool operates in a subscription-based model and focuses on providing users with clear visual indicators regarding the type of IP protocol used for web page connections. With its intuitive action icon, users can easily identify whether a page is accessed via IPv4 (red icon) or IPv6 (green icon). The extension also displays additional information about connections to other domains, making it a valuable resource for web developers and IT professionals.
When users click on the icon, a detailed table appears, showcasing various connection details such as the IP address, security protocol (HTTP/HTTPS), and connection status. Each connection is marked with specific icons to indicate its type, including WebSocket handshakes and Service Worker requests. IPvFoo prioritizes user privacy by keeping data in RAM and presenting the network as read-only, ensuring that users can monitor their connections without compromising their security.
